participant. was a sportswear brand from hull, uk in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

the brand mysteriously gained almost instant recognition and was worn by the likes of princess diana right through to the boxing legendprince naseem hamed.

participant found itself positioned in and amongst brands such as troop, british knights and spx, although it was rumoured that its creators who to this day still remain a mystery, had their sights set on overtaking nike.

in its short and relatively successful life, the brand went from royalty to obscurity. from 1988/1989. the brand was far more likely to be seen on the dancefloors of illegal raves in the uk as acid house began to gain momentum.

in the summer of 1993 the brand finally stopped production due to a mysterious factory fire in hull.
